Alton Byrd’s basketball journey has taken him from San Francisco to New York to the United Kingdom to Sacramento to Atlanta and back to Long Island. Along the way, he was a three time All Ivy League point guard at Columbia University, the first African American general manager of a British sports organization, and in his current gig, he is running the Brooklyn Nets’ G League franchise. This week Bruce Bernstein fills in for Mike Wise, and Alton shares his thoughts on basketball, life, race relations, business, and how the G League balances the goals of developing talent while trying to win games and G League championships.
